Given the somewhat uninspiring title it'd be easy to overlook this one. Don't, because it's the first release from a brand new label and the first fruits, I'm happy to report, are very promising indeed.
The label in question is called Chronovision. The label's based actually in Ibiza and is a new project from island stalwart JP Chronic, who's currently resident at Sankeys Ibiza at Pacha. Nice work if you can get it! On the debut sampler, JP himself and five of his chums – Anek, Manu L & Javier Gonzales, Cristian Viviano, Mobius Strum & Richard Salazer and Guthier DM – give us their version of the house sound of 2012.
The off-kilter percussion and disembodied vox of Viviano's I Mean and the go-all-night chug of Manu & Javier's Follow It Now stand out for me, but everyone will have their own favourites. Overall there are six very playable deep/tech house cuts here from a new label… what's not to like?
Out: This week
