Samuel Fach, a Berlin lad born and bred, presents a tribute to his hometown here on Tonkind, a label that's based in… yeah, that's right.
Hello Berlin itself is a very contemporary-sounding houser in terms of pace and instrumentation. There's a somewhat poppy feel to the Original mix, but that's toned down considerably on the slightly techier Edgar Peng and Kotelett & Zadak remixes. Next up is First Of May, which in its original form is a dark-yet-lively instrumental with plenty of musical variation going on throughout to maintain the interest, while a David Jach Rmx is a slightly slower, more thoughtful take. And then finally there's Like A Gin, a chuggier tech-house cut.
Overall, it's a little bit arty and synth-pop in places, but today's club kiddies don't seem to mind that and it's certainly well-constructed – it should do well.
