Take Italian-style pianos straight outta 1989, trumpet blasts reminiscent of Cuban or Mexican music and some parping sax that harks back to vintage 50s rock n' roll. Add a heavily-treated vocal that seems to be saying "Ooh, it's modern jazz" or something, then mix them all into a lounge-y, futuristic house groove.
Sounds like a tall order? Well, Filterwolf has managed it here.
Remixes come from Altered Native, Jimmy Edgar and Eduardo D'Alirio but they don't vary hugely, though Edgar's rub does have add a driving, pulsing synth riff to give the track a little more dancefloor energy. But the overall hard-to-quantify vibe remains the same. If you were looking for something a little left-of-centre, this wouldn't be a bad place to start.
