Mr Leman & Thomas Dieckmann – Lost

Mr Leman & Thomas Dieckmann Lost Gartenhaus
Thomas Dieckmann… Mr Leman… Gartenhaus… these are all names that when it comes to deep, techy goodness, you can rely on. Put all three together, and the results don't disappoint.

Lost, a joint Leman/Dieckmann outing, is predicated around a slightly scary one-note warping analogue synth hit and French sampled speech, and comes with a deeper, dubbier Detone Remix. Mr Leman goes solo on Raw, using similar vox to Lost but this time atop a slightly more mellow deep/tech house groove, while Mr Dieckmann likewise goes it alone on Too Many Cocktails, taking us to the heart of the 4am dancefloor and, interestingly, mixing up that very 'now' Berlin/east London vibe with some warmer, more 'classic' deep house sounds.

And there's not a track among them that isn't, frankly, superb. Go seek.

About: Denmark's Gartenhaus can be found with their noses buried in the Book Of Face and getting down to the Sound of the Cloud.

Thomas Dieckmann - No Beggin' EP

Denmark's What Happens continue their run of form with this three-tracker from Copenhagen resident Thomas Dieckmann.

The EP opens up with Alcohol Abuse, which is yer archetypal straight-up deep houser with spoken (sampled) vocals and some classic-sounding stabs. Not much else to say except it's better than that half-arsed description makes it sound! Next up is No Beggin' itself, an even deeper, organ-tastic hip-shaker for late, late floors, while Taylor Made It brings the EP to a close with its crisp hi-hats, solid kicks and hypnotic, looping synth riff.

Three superlative dancefloor cuts '4 da headz'… as they say. Go seek.

About: I've sung What Happens' praises on here many times but seriously, they don't seem to be able to do much wrong this past year or so. Find 'em on MySpace and Facebook.

Mark Kruse & Thomas Dieckmann - Walkin'

More absolutely top class deep house action here courtesy of Denmark's Deso Records, who I was singing the praises of on this blog less than a week ago. So I won't bang on about how good the label is again today, I'll just tell you about this record.

It's a nice simple affair, with just the two mixes of Walkin' itself. The original is a fairly uptempo but still decidedly deep affair with hints of classic Jersey garage in those warm organ sounds and the soulful vocal (which, BTW, is kinda vaguely Alabama Blues-y… well, just a bit blues-y generally really I guess). It's a killer… but then on the flip you also get the Echofusion Deeper Then Jazz Remix, which is also a killer, this time largely eschewing the warm, organic Jersey sounds for a slightly more bleepy, synthy, echo-y, dubby kinda ride.

Decisions decisions, eh?

Thomas Dieckmann – Don't You Steal From Me

Do you know what the very best thing about being me is? It's when you get sent some music, and it's on a brand new label, by a bunch of people you've never heard of, so you play it, not really expecting miracles or anything… and it totally rocks. I love it when that happens. It's why I do what I do. And I love Don't You Steal From Me, too.

Two tracks, four mixes of proper deep house goodness all the way from Copenhagen. The title track is the most upbeat and jackin' of the lot, Rasmus Juul's remix takes it deeper and a little funkier in a wonky kinda way, Can't Find Words has a bit more of a soulful feel while Mathias Mestono's rerub adds some slightly busier percussion and kinda hovers halfway between Ibiza and Berlin.

All told, four very solid bullets for the deeper dancefloors. More, please.

Out: This week

About: As stated, this comes on a brand new label out of Denmark, Gartenhaus. The hype sheet tells me they'll be bringing us "some of the finest and coolest tech and deep house releases" – on this evidence, I have no reason to doubt that at all. Here they are on Soundcloud (where you can HEAR THIS) and Facebook, and here's an interview with Rasmus Juul, who turns out to be the label boss (and a disgustingly young 22 years old) at ArtRebels.com
