Miguel Migs – The System feat Capleton

Love deep house? Love reggae as well? Then A. Congratulations, you have fine taste. And B. You should love this… cos it'll scratch both itches. Sometimes separately, sometimes at the same time.

The original of The System is taken from the recent Outside The Skyline album, as you probably know, but for those who don't it's a fairly accessible, upbeat house cut with reggae overtones and, of course, a vocal from dancehall legend Capleton.

But it's the remixes that are of more interest today. Reggae lovers are treated to both Vocal and Dub mixes from Mad Professor, which dispense with the track's housey elements in favour of a carnival-friendly dancehall vibe for the former and some heavy, spaced-out dub shenanigans on the latter. Elsewhere, you get a Dreadzone-esque skanking rub from Rob Garza and a more 'leftfield beats' kinda pass from Rob Paine, but the treat for the househeads lies in Migs returning to his Petalpusher guise for a Salted Disco Dub that… well yeah. YOU know.

It's between the Petalpusher pass and Mad Professor's Dub for me but with mixes to suit a range of tastes, this is a must-check.

Out: This week

About: This comes, like the album, on Migs' own long-running Salted Music
